Eye Health Evaluations

There is a common misconception that if a person sees well, their eyes must be healthy. In fact, many serious, sight-threatening eye diseases have no early warning signs. At Renfrew Eye Clinic, your optometrist has the skills and training to detect these diseases in their earliest stages.  Early intervention gives a person the best possible chance of maintaining their vision.

In addition to testing your vision and eye muscle function, your comprehensive full eye examination will include:

  • A review of your health and vision history
  • Measurement of eye pressure
  • Measurement of eye thickness
  • Eye health examination
  • Retinal imaging

It is important to remember that a full eye health examination not only reveals the health of your eyes, but can also be an indicator of your overall health.  Many general health conditions, such as diabetes, high blood pressure and autoimmune diseases can be detected by having your eyes examined.

If the need arises, your optometrist at Renfrew Eye Clinic can you refer you to any ophthalmologist in the area for surgical care.

The following eye examinations are covered by OHIP:

  • Children aged 0-19: Annual Comprehensive eye examinations and follow-up examinations.
  • Adults aged 20-64 years: Annual comprehensive eye examinations and follow-up examinations for people with:
